Open the app, add your skills, qualifications and where you'll be, and see short gigs posted by nonprofits, farms, food brands, community groups and event operators. Projects run from a day to a few weeks and cover animal welfare, conservation, habitat and soil health, endangered food sources, sustainable farming, food-waste recovery and event cleanup. Some gigs pay. Others are funded by donations to the organizations running them.

Every listing spells out the work, the hours, what to bring and any safety requirements, so you know what you're walking into before you apply. Organizations post a gig and see who's interested.
